Hamilton Island honeymoon death: Husband charged over newlywed wife’s death in golf buggy crash

The husband of a woman who died in a golf buggy crash on Queensland’s Hamilton Island has been charged over the incident.

The 30-year-old man has been accused of driving without “due care and attention” causing his 29-year-old wife’s death in June.

Another of the charges states he was “using a mobile phone” while driving.

It is also alleged neither he nor his wife were wearing seatbelts.

The Sydney couple, Robbie Morgan and Marina Hanna, were married on June 11 and had travelled to Hamilton Island for their honeymoon.

Morgan is due to appear in Proserpine Magistrates Court on December 5.

In the days after the June 20 crash, Morgan took to Facebook to share a touching post in memory of Hanna.

“My heart is broken and my world shattered with the tragic loss of the most beautiful girl in the world.. my angel.. my saint.. my wife Marina Hanna,” he said..

“My rock, my partner, my confidant, my angel, my saint, my everything! The world will never be the same.

“I will love you forever and ever and EVER!”

Hanna’s family have also shared their heartache following the tragic loss.

“I will always love you sis. You will always be our angel. We miss you and are shattered,” her brother Mark Hanna posted on Facebook.

Her brother-in-law Matthew Morgan paid tribute to the new wife of his brother Robbie Morgan.

“To Marina, the sister I never had, we are all truly heartbroken by your loss,” he said on Instagram.

“From the moment I met you, I knew you were the one for my brother.

“Your kind, gentle nature is a testament to the type of person you are, and is proof that the good die young.

“May your soul rest in paradise for all of eternity as you watch over us in the heavens above. I love you forever sis.”
