Anika Noni Rose shows off her wedding dress for the FIRST time since marrying Jason Dirden

Anika Noni Rose, best known for voicing The Princess and the Frog’s Princess Tiana, share unseen photos from her intimate wedding ceremony at the Paramour Estate in Los Angeles, California on October 16, 2022.

After quietly tying the knot with husband Jason Dirden at the hilltop property just three months ago, the 50-year-old actress shared her first wedding photos while making her debut as a married woman on the cover of Brides.

For their special day, the Dreamgirls star wore a mesmerizing custom gown with a plunging neckline and sheer sleeves adorned with embroidered flowers from Alonuko Bridal, a London-based designer.

While speaking about designing the dress, Anika gushed: ‘We talked about the story we wanted to tell with the dress. [Our vision was] that of a rose coming into full bloom, but without being too fussy.’ 

She continued: ‘I also didn’t want anything I could wear on a red carpet.’ 

The Tony winner completed her dreamy look with a pair of Badgley Mischka heels, white gold sapphire and diamond earrings and a ‘and a vintage handkerchief embroidered with blue flowers’ (from her aunt).

As for her makeup, she wanted to ‘look soft and pretty, touchable, ethereal, dreamy and fully’ herself.

Disney’s first Black princess wore her gorgeous, brunette locks in a elegant, yet romantic low bun.

Her groom looked handsome by her side during the ceremony as he cut a dapper figure in a salmon-colored suit and a pair of flamingo-printed socks, which were a gift from his bride a few years prior. 

In images together, the newlyweds looked blissfully happy as they walked down the aisle and over white rose petals, after exchanging vows.

‘Without consulting each other we ended up using the same phrase at the end of each [of our vows]. We couldn’t have planned it better,’ Anika gushed to the outlet.

They hired a string quartet and ‘vocalist for Anika’s entrance and their recessional.’

For a sweet touch, the bride had her aunt write the seating assignments by hand as she always ‘loved’ her aunt’s handwriting as a child.

The couple had their first dance to Norah Jones’ Come Away With Me, which she recorded with her own vocals as a surprise to her husband and guests.

‘The only other person who knew that this was happening was the DJ,’ Rose told Brides. ‘I saw the moment Jason realized it was me singing. Meanwhile, my family knew it was me from the moment the first beat dropped! Jason was so focused on the dance that it took him about two lines in before he had that ‘Ah’ moment.’ 

While reflecting on their reception, the actress raved their officiant, Colman Domingo, ‘started doing the electric slide’ and that there was ‘intergenerational joy and connection’ on the dancefloor. 

‘We even had some impromptu dance battles!’ the groom said. Later, he and his wife rode a tandem bike.
